Standard for the use of plastic trays

- Jan 03, 2019-

Pallets are directly related to stored shelves, transported products, containers, transport vehicles, unloading platforms, and handling facilities. Therefore, the size of pallets is the basis for considering the size of other logistics equipment. For example, the most common beam width dimensions for pallet beam shelves are 2300mm and 2700mm. The former holds two 1200mm x 1000mm pallets, and the latter holds three 1200mm x 800mm pallets. Here, it is particularly worth mentioning that to establish an effective pallet utility system, it is necessary to use a uniform specification tray, which is a prerequisite for consistent pallet operation. The following factors should be considered when choosing a tray size:

1. Consider the size of the transportation and transportation equipment

The appropriate tray size should conform to the size of the transport, make full use of the space of the transport, increase the loading rate, reduce the transportation costs, especially considering the size of the container of the shipping container and transport commercial vehicle.

2. Consider the packaging specifications of the pallet loading goods

Select the appropriate tray according to the packing specifications of the palletized goods, and make the best use of the surface area of the pallet to control the height of the center of gravity of the loaded goods. A reasonable indicator of pallet loading is: 80% of the surface area utilization of the pallet, and the height of the center of gravity of the cargo should not exceed two-thirds of the pallet width.

3. Consider the versatility of the tray size

International standard tray specifications should be used as much as possible to facilitate the exchange and use of pallets.

4. Consider the area of use of the tray size

The flow of the pallets carrying the goods directly affects the choice of pallet size. Usually, goods going to Europe should be 1210 pallets (1200mm × 1000mm) or 1208 pallets (1200mm × 800mm); 1111 pallets (1100mm × 1100mm) for goods going to Japan and South Korea; 1140mm for goods going to Oceania × 1140mm or 1067mm × 1067mm pallets; 48-inch × 40-inch pallets for goods destined for the United States, and 1210 pallets for domestic shipments to the United States.

The 1200mm × 1000mm tray is the most widely used in the world and is the most widely used in China.
